Distinguished from all congeners by having bars on the body; and from all examined Pseudancistrus except Pseudancistrus genisetiger and Pseudancistrus papariae by having an incomplete mid-dorsal plate row with 18 plates ( vs. complete with 21-25 plates). Differs from one specimen of Pseudancistrus genisetiger and the holotype of Pseudancistrus papariae by the presence of 18 continuous plates (vs. mid-dorsal row with 14 plates, then a break around the adipose fin and then 2 more plates at the posterior end of the caudal peduncle. provided by wikipedia EN

Pseudancistrus reus[1] is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae. It is native to South America, where it occurs in the Caroní River in Venezuela. It is typically found in presumably blackwater environments (described as "tea-colored")[2] with low conductivity and a moderate current. The species reaches 7.7 cm (3 inches) SL. Its specific epithet, reus, is derived from Latin and translates to "prisoner", alluding to the species' barred patterning which resembles a stereotypical prison uniform.[3]
