Nymphaea amazonum (Amazon Water Lily) is a species of perennial herb in the family water-lilies. It has a self-supporting growth form. It is native to Puerto Rico, Tocantins, Amazônia, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul, Sergipe, Distrito Federal, Bahia, Pará, Piauí, Maranhao, Minas Gerais, Mata Atlântica, Acre (Brazil), Espirito Santo, Rio Grande do Norte, Cerrado, Santa Catarina, Ceará, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Caatinga, Alagoas, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Goiás, Pernambuco, Pampa, Paraíba, Pantanal, and Rondônia. Amazon Water Lily has simple, broad leaves. It is a photoautotroph.
