Papaver somniferum (Opium Poppy) is a species of annual herb in the family Papaveraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Megachile leaf-cutter bee, Meliscaeva auricollis, Apis mellifera, and marmalade hoverfly. Individuals can grow to 0.66 m.
