Photinus pyralis (Big Dipper Firefly) is a species of beetles in the family fireflies. They are native to The Nearctic. They visit flowers of Ruth's milkweed and butterfly milkweed. They are nocturnal carnivores. Individuals can grow to 12 mm. They rely on flight to move around.
