They are native to Turkey, Latvia, Iran, Turkmenistan, United Kingdom, Spain, Norway, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Yugoslavia, Morocco, Finland, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Sweden, Moldova, Ukraine, Albania, Hungary, Switzerland, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Lebanon, Bulgaria, The Netherlands, Denmark, Russia, Belarus, Algeria, Austria, Uzbekistan, Romania, Greece, Kazakhstan, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Estonia, India, and Nepal. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.22 m.
