Immature stages of Costa Rican species are unknown, but immature stages of other species in the genus have been collected in aquatic mosses along streams and waterfalls and in moist woodland soil not near water in mosses and liverworts.

Diagnostic Description

Hind tibiae without apical spurs; basicosta without strong setae; third antennal segment with at most an acute dorsobasal angle; subcallus and usually the first antennal segment greatly inflated and shiny; third antennal segment very long and slender, with an obtuse dorsal angle; wings black or partly so, the extreme apex always sharply hyaline, vein R4 bent sharply forward; wing and dorsal surface of the body intensely black; front, subcallus and frontoclypeus wholly orange; first antennal segment orange, only slightly inflated; mid and hind tarsi basally white.
