Diagnosed from other congeners by the following combination of characters: posterior border of preopercle serrated; scales in E1 row 48-51; isognathous jaws or slightly prognathous upper jaw; suborbital stripe present; flanks with five or six dark rectangular blotches just below the upper lateral line along dorsal-fin base; and vertical stripes absent (Ref. 75970).

Crenicichla yaha es una especie de peces Perciformes de la familia Cichlidae.

Morfología

Los machos pueden llegar alcanzar los 14,6 cm de longitud total.[1]​

Distribución geográfica

Se encuentran solo en la cuenca del arroyo Urugua-í, en el nordeste de la Argentina. Los ejemplares referidos a la cuenca del Iguazú, fueron reasignados a Crenicichla tesay.[2]​
