Senna alata (Emperor's Candlesticks) is a species of tree in the family Fabaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Tocantins, SãO Paulo, Santa Catarina, Maranhao, Ceará, Rio Grande Do Sul, Paraná, Caatinga, RondôNia, Cerrado, Pará, Alagoas, Amapá, Mato Grosso, ParaíBa, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Bahia, AmazôNia, Espirito Santo, Pernambuco, Rio Grande Do Norte, GoiáS, Distrito Federal, Piauí, Acre (Brazil), Pantanal, Rio De Janeiro, and Mata AtlâNtica. They have compound, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Monk Skipper, Xylocopa micans, Tetragonula laeviceps, and Phoebis philea. Individuals can grow to 3 m.
