Nephrolepis biserrata is a species of perennial herb in the family sword ferns. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to AmazôNia, Rio Grande Do Sul, Sergipe, Piauí, Mata AtlâNtica, Acre (Brazil), Mato Grosso, Caatinga, Mato Grosso Do Sul, The Contiguous United States, Paraná, Ceará, Maranhao, Santa Catarina, U.S. Virgin Islands, Roraima, SãO Paulo, ParaíBa, Amapá, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Pernambuco, Rio Grande Do Norte, Alagoas, RondôNia, Cerrado, Pará, Distrito Federal, Pantanal, Puerto Rico, and Rio De Janeiro. They have compound, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 14 m. They have alternation of generations.
