Virola surinamensis (Baboonwood) is a species of tree in the family Myristicaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are listed as endangered by IUCN. They are native to Mato Grosso, RondôNia, Amazônia, Roraima, Caatinga, Acre (Brazil), Maranhao, Tocantins, Amapá, Pará, South America, Piauí, and Ceará. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Camponotus femoratus, Trigona spinipes, and Honey bee. Individuals can grow to 32 m.
