Clematis vitalba (Traveller's Joy) is a species of shrub in the family Ranunculaceae. They are obligate climbers. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Austria, Georgia, Serbia And Montenegro, Italy, Hungary, Portugal, United Kingdom, Romania, Syria, Spain, Greece, Albania, The Netherlands, Russia, Bulgaria, Armenia, Germany, Ukraine, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Algeria, Belgium, Iran, and Cyprus. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Marsh Hoverfly, Rhingia campestris, meadow brown, and Halictus tumulorum. Individuals can grow to 6.6 m.
