Dianthus caryophyllus (Carnation) is a herbaceous species of plants in the family carpetweeds, with a self-supporting growth habit. It has simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Rivoli's Hummingbird and Oedemera flavipes. It is a photoautotroph.
