They are native to Maranhao, Acre (Brazil), Roraima, U.S. Virgin Islands, AmazôNia, Pará, The Neotropics, and Puerto Rico. They have compound, broad leaves, white flowers, and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Insular Flying Fox, African Straw-colored Fruit Bat, Little Flying Cow, and Pemba Flying Fox. Individuals can grow to 150 feet.
