Passiflora edulis (Passion Fruit) is a species of plants in the family Passifloraceae. They are climbers. They are native to GoiáS, Maranhao, AmazôNia, Ceará, Sergipe, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande Do Norte, Cerrado, Pantanal, SãO Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Pernambuco, Paraná, ParaíBa, Tocantins, Bahia, Mata Atlântica, Piauí, Caatinga, Mato Grosso, Alagoas, Rio Grande Do Sul, Pará, and Santa Catarina. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Asian hornet, Xylocopa sonorina, Xylocopa augusti, and Xylocopa fimbriata. Individuals can grow to 6 m.
