They are native to Rio Grande Do Norte, Ceará, U.S. Virgin Islands, Sergipe, Pernambuco, ParaíBa, Caatinga, Bahia, Piauí, Puerto Rico, Mata Atlântica, and Alagoas. They have simple, broad leaves and red flowers. Individuals can grow to 50 feet.
