Ammannia coccinea (Valley Redstem) is a species of shrub in the family Lythraceae. They are native to The Contiguous United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. They have purple flowers and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Eristalis flavipes, Epicauta pensylvanica, Coelioxys alternata, and alfalfa lygus. Individuals can grow to 1.6 feet.
