Leaf-blades oblong, elliptic, ovate, or lanceolate, 6-16 cm. long, acuminate, glabrous or
nearly so above, entire, finely appressed-pubescent beneath, rounded or truncate at the
base, rather long-petioled ; peduncles and pedicels permanently pubescent ; sepals ovate,
3-3.5 mm. long, the glands one half the length of the sepal-body or less ; larger petals 9-
11 mm. long ; samaras 2.5-3 cm. long, the ventral edge of the wing scarcely auricled, the
dorsal edge decurrent on the samara-body.
Type locality : French Guiana.
Distribution : Jamaica, Hispaniola, Porto Rico, and the Lesser Antilles ; also in northern South America.
