Clidemia hirta (Soapbush) is a species of shrub in the family melastomes. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Amapá, Rio De Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso Do Sul, GoiáS, Espirito Santo, SãO Paulo, The Contiguous United States, Santa Catarina, Sergipe, Mato Grosso, Puerto Rico, Acre (Brazil), AmazôNia, AmazôNia, Maranhao, Roraima, Bahia, Paraná, Mata AtlâNtica, Caatinga, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais, Piauí, RondôNia, Rio Grande Do Sul, Cerrado, Ceará, U.S. Virgin Islands, ParaíBa, Pará, Alagoas, and Tocantins. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Halictonomia clidemiae. Individuals can grow to 4.6 m.
