Many-stemmed, ascending or erect, usually densely leafy, 1-2 dm. high, incurved-griseouspuberulous; lower leaves obovate to oval or oval-oblong, 5-17 mm. long, the middle and upper oblong or lance-oblong, 1.1-1.9 cm. long, 3-5 mm. wide, obtuse to acutish, incurved-puberulous; racemes rather dense, 1.5-4 cm. long; flowers apparently ochroleucous; sepals lanceolate, pilosulous; wings oval or obovate-oval, 3.5-5 mm. long, 2-2.5 mm. wide, obtuse or abruptly short-pointed, puberulous; capsule suborbicular to oval, incurved-puberulous, 7-9.5 mm. long; seed 3.5-4.5 mm. long; aril 1-2 mm. high, strongly 3-lobed, the lobes scarious, linear or linearlanceolate, entire or slightly lobulate, descending or the dorsal more or less spreading, subequal or the dorsal somewhat the longer.
Type locality: Lava fields at an altitude of 2290 meters. Valley of Mexico, Federal District, Mexico.
