Diagnosis: mouth subinferior; two pairs of long barbels, anterior pair 1.05-3.1x eye diameter, posterior pair 1.3-3.6x; 26-30 scales in lateral line; 12 scales around caudal peduncle; last simple ray of dorsal fin flexible and smooth; 5-6 gill rakers on lower limb of first gill arch; 2 round spots beneath dorsal fin, 1 spot on caudal peduncle (Ref. 81639).Description: small species; scales radially striated; 4.5 scales between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 4.5-5.5 scales between lateral line and mid-belly; 2-3 scales between lateral line and pelvic fin insertion; D:III,8-9; A:III,5; dorsal fin with concave border (Ref. 81639).Coloration: ground color grey-brown dorsally, white ventrally, bronze on opercle and flanks; 3 black spots on flanks and 1 on caudal peduncle; scales of lateral line often with dark basal marking; often with small black spot at dorsal fin origin; fins colorless, caudal fin sometimes yellow or rose base (Ref. 81639).
