Annual up to 40 cm tall, densely hirsute. Stems 1 or more from the base. Radical leaves lanceolate to oblong, up to 3 cm long, hirsute, base narrowed into a petiole, margin serrate to crenate. Cauline leaves sessile, lanceolate, hirsute, apex acute, margin entire to crenate. Flowers numerous at the top of the stem in clustered panicles, dimorphic, larger flowers complete, smaller without petals and stamens. Calyx hirsute with triangular segments. Corolla hairy outside, as long as or longer than the calyx, light purple. Capsule rounded. Seeds minute, oblong, c. 3 mm long.
