Herb, 20-30 cm tall, branching from the base. Branches reddish-purple below, becoming green-yellow above, glabrous with inconspicuous pale glands. Leaves distantly placed, 20-35 x 2-3 mm, linear to lanceolate, glabrous with dark glands, base attenuate, sub-acute. Inflorescence corymbose, lax. Peduncles long. Bracts ovate-oblong, farinose. Sepals deciduous, 2-2.5 mm, suborbicular, pale glandular in the centre, glabrous. Petals 8-9 mm, cordate, clawed very shortly, glandular and pulverulant, reddish with pale margins. Filaments c. 3 mm, glabrous but barbate about the middle, gradually expanding below. Ovary 5-locular, glabrous with many convex glands and blunt appendages on the apical portion. Each locule 4-ovuled. Style c. 2 mm long, thick. Capsule glabrescent, 5 mm broad, dehiscent from the inner side; appendages smaller in the mature capsule.
