Hymenopappus corymbosus Nuttallii T. &. G. Fl. N. Am. 2: 372. 1842. Hymenopappus tenuifolius Nutt.; T. & G. Fl. N. Am. 2: 372, as synonym. 1842.
A leafy-stemmed biennial; stem 3-7 dm. high, angled and grooved, glabrate below, glandular and puberulent above; leaves twice pinna tifid with narrowly linear divisions, somewhat floccose when young, glabrate in age; heads numerous, corymbose; bracts oblong or oblong-obovate, with greenishwhite tips; corolla yellowish; tube about 2 mm. long; throat campanulate, 1.5 mm. long, about equaling the oblong lobes; anthers wholly exserted; filaments partly so; achenes 3.5 mm. long, broadly obpyramidal, merely puberulent, strongly muricate and striate; squamellae minute.
Type locality: Arkansas.
Distribution: Missouri and Arkansas to Kansas and Texas.
