Physalis is a genus of shrub in the family nightshades. They are native to The Contiguous United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, US Minor Outlying Islands, and Puerto Rico. They have berries. Flowers are visited by Colletes latitarsis, Epeolus bifasciatus, Bombus impatiens, and Perdita halictoides. Individuals can grow to 0.91 m.
