Alternanthera ficoidea (Sanguinaria) is a species of shrub in the family Amaranthaceae. They are climbers. They are native to Mata Atlântica, Ceará, Pará, Paraná, Pampa, Minas Gerais, Rio De Janeiro, Puerto Rico, GoiáS, Cerrado, Alagoas, Espirito Santo, Maranhao, Pernambuco, Roraima, Amazônia, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Santa Catarina, SãO Paulo, Caatinga, Piauí, Pantanal, Sergipe, RondôNia, ParaíBa, Rio Grande Do Sul, Bahia, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso, Acre (Brazil), and Rio Grande Do Norte. They have capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Tetragonisca angustula.
