CN:[Malay - Buah Asam Kumbang; Borneo vernacular names - Asam putarum, Asem kumbang, Asem paoh, Asem rawa, Baab, Damaran, Rancha rancha, Rawa-rawa biasa, Rawa-rawa pipit]. Indigenous to Malesia region lowland forests up to ca 900m. Plant can grow to a gigantic more than 50 meters height and now quiet a rarity. Fruit flesh is yellow, with a sour but tasty flavor that is often used locally for pickles, eaten raw with chillies and prawn paste and soy-sauce. Rind purplish-mottled, resinous but easily removed using bare hands.Synonym(s):
