Cavia porcellus (Cavy) is a species of rodents in the family guinea pigs. They are native to The Neotropics and South American Andes. They are solitary, crepuscular herbivores. Individuals are known to live for 177.6 months. Reproduction is viviparous. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on running to move around.
