Diagnosis: lachrymal 22.2 % head length; snout 30.2 % head length; eye diameter 37.3 % head length; large head, 42.5 %SL; dorsal fin occupies a rather posterior position, with predorsal distance 45.3 %SL (Ref. 55898).Description: small and deep-bodied species; dorsal body profile convex, ventral body profile straight; snout short and angular; lower jaw relatively large; gape inclined at about 25° to horizontal; maxilla extending beyond vertical at anterior margin of orbit; outer oral teeth mixed bicuspid, unicuspid and shouldered bicuspid; single inner tooth row in both jaws; inner teeth unicuspid or shouldered bicuspid; 3 series of scales on cheek; eye large, protruding slightly beyond dorsal head profile; lower pharyngeal jaw normal; most pharyngeal teeth fine and slender, a few enlarged but no molariform teeth along centre line of pharyngeal; gill-rakers on lower limb short and slender (Ref. 55898).Coloration: Preserved: body pale brownish yellow; six pale vertical bars below dorsal fin; all fins pale yellowish; small dark lappets on dorsal fin; dark leading edge to ventral fin (Ref. 55898).
