Cricetomys gambianus (Gambian Pouched Rat) is a species of rodents in the family Nesomyidae. They are native to Ethiopia, Botswana, Democratic Republic Of The Congo, Malawi, Uganda, The Gambia, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Gabon, Cameroon, Kenya, Guinea, Burundi, Senegal, Rwanda, Togo, Democratic Republic Of The Congo, Mali, CôTe D’Ivoire, Nigeria, Niger, Liberia, The Central African Republic, South Africa, Guinea-Bissau, Benin, Angola, Chad, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan. They are solitary, nocturnal omnivores. Individuals can grow to 362.64 mm. Reproduction is dioecious. They have parental care (female provides care). They rely on running to move around.
