Pouteria caimito (Abiu) is a species of tree in the family Sapotaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to SãO Paulo, Minas Gerais, Sergipe, Mato Grosso, RondôNia, Amapá, Tocantins, Alagoas, Mata AtlâNtica, Roraima, Espirito Santo, ParaíBa, AmazôNia, Pernambuco, Cerrado, Acre (Brazil), AmazôNia, Maranhao, Pará, Ceará, Bahia, Santa Catarina, Rio De Janeiro, and Paraná. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 25 m.
