Pouteria caimito (Abiu) is a species of tree in the family Sapotaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Tocantins, Santa Catarina, Ceará, Alagoas, ParaíBa, Pará, Maranhao, Acre (Brazil), RondôNia, Roraima, Mato Grosso, AmazôNia, Bahia, Sergipe, Pernambuco, Mata Atlântica, Espirito Santo, Rio De Janeiro, Paraná, Amapá, Minas Gerais, Cerrado, and SãO Paulo. They have simple, broad leaves and berry. Individuals can grow to 25 m.
