Ricinus communis (Castor Bean) is a species of shrub in the family Euphorbiaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Nigeria, Afghanistan, Botswana, Angola, Hungary, Algeria, Benin, Morocco, Syria, Iran, Israel, Egypt, Lesotho, Jordan, Kenya, Swaziland, Ethiopia, Pakistan, South Africa, and Turkey. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by European honey bee, Broad-billed Hummingbird, and Halictus lucidipennis. Individuals can grow to 3.4 m.
