They are native to Mata Atlântica, Paraná, Acre (Brazil), Cerrado, Santa Catarina, Puerto Rico, Espirito Santo, Ceará, Amazônia, Caatinga, SãO Paulo, Bahia, Rio De Janeiro, Pernambuco, Distrito Federal, and Minas Gerais. They have simple, broad leaves.
