They are native to South America, Uruguay, SãO Paulo, Brazil, Cerrado, Paraguay, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina, GoiáS, Distrito Federal, Argentina, Chile, Western North America, Mata Atlântica, Paraná, Rio De Janeiro, and Rio Grande Do Sul. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 2 m.
