Steinchisma laxum (Lax Gaping Grass) is a species of perennial grass in the family true grasses. They are native to Paraná, Minas Gerais, Maranhao, Piauí, Bahia, Rio De Janeiro, Amapá, Santa Catarina, Distrito Federal, Alagoas, Cerrado, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Mata Atlântica, AmazôNia, Caatinga, GoiáS, RondôNia, Acre (Brazil), Roraima, Pará, Mato Grosso, Ceará, Puerto Rico, Rio Grande Do Sul, Pernambuco, ParaíBa, Espirito Santo, Sergipe, Rio Grande Do Norte, Tocantins, U.S. Virgin Islands, and SãO Paulo. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.71 m.
