Butomus umbellatus (Flowering Rush) is a species of perennial herb in the family Butomaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Norway, Greece, Morocco, Estonia, Iraq, Austria, Romania, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Portugal, Poland, Albania, Ireland, Croatia, Czech Republic, Israel, Syria, China, Moldova, Algeria, Jordan, Georgia, Belarus, Mongolia, The Netherlands, Ukraine, Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Belgium, Armenia, Serbia And Montenegro, Lebanon, Finland, France, Turkey, Denmark, Latvia, Iran, Switzerland, Italy, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Sweden, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, and Hungary. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Black and Yellow Mud Dauber, Syrphid fly, Large Copper, and Bicolored Agapostemon. Individuals can grow to 0.97 m.
