West shore of Pittwater (northern outskirts of Sydney), New South Wales. This is a wide-ranging and extraordinarily variable species in eastern Australia. It can be a mat of fine foliage under 5 cm high or a slender tuft up to almost 0.5 m. Leaves vary fom half a millimetre in width to almost 10 mm. What holds them together are the flower and inflorescence characters. In my work on vegetation surveys there are few more frequently encountered plants.
