observations from cultivation of a bulb of Tulipa subbiflora

A bulb of Tulipa subbiflora which I bought from Janis Ruksan in 2004, 7 years ago (as Tulipa orithrioides) has multiplied well by offsetts but is aparently self sterile. It flowers early _often before T hissarica. The flowers are white and the leaves flat, grey and much wider than Tulipa biflorus in any of the forms I know.
