Cardinalis cardinalis (Northern Cardinal) is a species of birds in the family cardinals. It is associated with freshwater habitat. It is found in the Nearctic and the Neotropics. Northern Cardinal is a diurnal omnivore. Individuals are known to live for 28.5 years and can grow to 52.2 g. Reproduction is dioecious. Northern Cardinal has parental care (occasionally breeds cooperatively).
