Nicrophorus americanus (American Burying Beetle) is a species of beetles in the family carrion beetles. They are listed as critically endangered by IUCN and as extirpated by COSEWIC. They are native to The Nearctic. They are nocturnal carnivores. Individuals can grow to 35 mm. They have parental care (paternal care and female provides care).
