Piptochaetium montevidense is a species of perennial grass in the family true grasses. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Paraná, Pampa, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande Do Sul, Mata Atlântica, SãO Paulo, and South America. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 0.1 m.
