Polygala brachytropis Blake, Contr. Gray Herb. 47: 46. 1916.
Suffruticulose below, branching, 2.5 dm. high and more, densely pubescent with short incurved and long widely spreading hairs; leaves ovate, 2.5-3.8 cm. long, 1.2-1.4 cm. wide, acute, mucronulate, firm, rather sparsely pubescent with incurved-spreading hairs; racemes about 9-flowered, about 3 cm. long; flowers apparently ochroleucous ; sepals ovate, acute, 2 mm. long; wings elliptic, 3.8 mm. long, 2.5 mm. wide, rounded at apex, cuneate at base, ciliolate, along costa sparsely puberulous; keel greenish, 3.2-3.5 mm. long; submature capsule oval, ciliate and rather densely incurved-puberulous, 9.5 mm. long, the vallecule 1 mm. wide, 1 mm. high; seed unknown.
Type locality: Zimapan, Hidalgo. Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
