Malpighia heterophylla Griseb. Linnaea 22 : 2. 1849
Leaf-blades ovate-lanceolate, 4-10 cm. long, acute at the apex, glabrous above, sparingly strigillose beneath or ultimately glabrous, obtuse or rounded at the base, rather shortpetioled ; cymes peduncled, the branches finely pubescent ; sepals ovate, about 4 mm. long, the glands about one half the length of the sepal-body; corolla about 15 mm. wide, the larger petals 6-7 mm. long; drupes not seen.
Type locality : Mexico.
Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
