Staphylea occidentalis occidentalis (Muttonwood) is a subspecies of tree in the family bladdernuts. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Acre (Brazil), U.S. Virgin Islands, RondôNia, Mato Grosso, Amazônia, Pará, and Puerto Rico. They have compound, broad leaves and berries. Individuals can grow to 23 m.
