Alchemilla velutina S. Wats. Proc. Am. Acad. 17 : 354. 1882.
Branched perennial ; stems decumbent or ascending, leafy, strigose with rather long hairs ; stipules connate and adnate to the petioles, usually 2-cleft; lower leaves shortpetioled, the upper sessile ; leaf-blades divided to near the base into 3 cuneate divisions, which are 1 cm. long or less, sparingly strigose on both sides or glabrate above, 3-5-cleft with oblong lobes ; flowers in small axillary clusters, nearly sessile ; hypanthium urceolate, less than 1 mm. long, constricted at the mouth, finely and usually densely pubescent with short spreading hairs ; bractlets lanceolate, shorter than the ovate sepals, which are scarcely 0.5 mm. long; carpels usually solitary.
Type locality : Swampy places about San I^uis Potosi, Mexico. Distribution: Central Mexico.
