Lindleyella schiedeana Rydberg, sp. nov
Lindleya mespiloides Schlecht. I,innaea 13 : 404. 1839. Not L. mespiloides H.B.K. 1823.
A tree, 3 m. high or more ; bark of twigs and branches dark brownish-gray, warty with numerous lenticels ; leaves short-petioled ; blades obovate, 3-4 cm. long, reticulate, shining above, dull beneath, acute, obtuse or mucronate at the apex, abruptly contracted at the base, finely crenate ; stipules subulate, glandular-toothed, 3 mm. long; pedicels very short; hypanthium broader and shorter than in the preceding, 3 mm. deep and 5 mm. wide ; sepals ovate, acute, 5 mm. long ; stamens about 20 ; filaments subulate ; petals about 15 mm. long, obovate.
Type collected between Zimapan and San^Jos^ del Oro, Mexico, Schiede.
Distribution : Southern Mexico.
