Small rounded, scrambling shrub. Bark grey with lenticels; young branchlets covered in short reddish hairs. Leaves alternate, ovate-lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, acute or subacute at the apex, cuneate to rounded but not decurrent at the base, up to 7 × 2.5 cm, sparsely stellate-hairy below when young, mostly hairless when mature; margin entire, wavy. Flowers solitary, extra-axillary, yellow, on a slender stalk 2-3 cm long. Fruit of 3-6 carpels, c. 2.5 cm long, blackish-purple when dry.
