Body with broad black bands (Ref. 48635).Description: Characterized by whitish to pale yellow color; with distinctive pattern of 12-14 dark brown to blackish bars, narrower than pale interspaces; ventral surface of head with elongate blackish streak; head densely covered with small dark spots; less dense spots on upper half of trunk and tail in pale spaces between dark bars; body depth at gill opening about 14-22 in TL; origin of dorsal fin is closer to gill opening than corner of mouth; anus anterior to middle of body; serrated jaw teeth in large specimens (Ref. 90102).

體延長而呈圓柱狀,尾部側扁。吻圓;上下頜完全密合,無頜間尖牙;上、下頜齒呈尖牙狀,單列;鋤骨齒單列。脊椎骨數144-153。體側橫帶呈明顯之深黑色並具白邊,各橫帶之背腹相連形成完整之環狀,約有12-14條橫帶,環狀橫帶間及頭部有許多小圓黑斑點。
棲地

主要棲息於沿岸水層較深處,約達100公尺。肉食性,伺機捕食魚類或頭足類為生。
