Cotiara
Araucaria forests of southern Brazil (states of São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rico Grande do Sul) and north-eastern Argentina (Province of Misiones) (McDiarmid et al. 1999).
Syntypes: Not stated in original description, but presumed to be in IB (McDiarmid et al. 1999).
Lectotype: IB 452.
Type-locality: "M[arechal]. Mallet. (Paraná)" (Marechal Mallet, Paraná, southern Brazil) (McDiarmid et al. 1999).
Bothrops cotiara is a species of venomous snake in the family Viperidae.[2] It is endemic to Brazil and Argentina.[3]
The specific name, cotiara, is taken from one of its common names.
Boicoatiara, boicotiara, boiquatiara, coatiara, jararaca-de-barriga-preta, jararaca-preta, and quatiara.
It is found in Argentina in Misiones Province; and in Brazil in the states of Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo.[1]
The type locality is "Núcleo Colonial Cruz Machado, [município de] Marechal Mallet, Estado do Paraná, Brasil".[4]
