Ventral surface of buccal segment with longitudinal folds. Paleae small, shorter then normal bristles. Pattern of branchiae (branchiae in two groups slightly separated at middorsum and connected at bases by a dermal brim; 4 branchiae of each group arranged in two transverse rows). Large cranulated lower lip.

General Description

Body cylindrical in cross section, abdomen tapering towards the pygidium. Prostomium with three lobes and two small eyespots. Ventral surface of buccal segment with longitudinal folds. Gills in two groups slightly separated at middorsum and connected at bases by a dermal brim; the four gills of each group arranged in two transverse rows. Paleae small, shorter than normal bristles. Chaetae of segment 3 small, shorter than normal notopodial chaetae. Sixteen thoracic segments with notopodia with bristles, the posterior thirteen also with neuropodia with uncini. Abdomen with 14-15 uncinigerous segments, some with rudimentary notopodia. Pygydium with two lateral cirri. Notochaetae with long tips and narrow brims. Thoracic uncini with two rows of teeth with up to 10 teeth in each row, abdominal uncini with three rows of teeth with up to ten in each row. Tube – a thin layer of secretion incrusted with a few sand grains. Maximum length - 33 mm. Colour in alcohol pale.
