Amblyscirtes belliis resident in the inland southeastern United States (Scott 1986). Habitats are shady thorn forest and canals in Texas, in woodlands along creeks in the eastern United States. Host plant is the grass species Uniola latifolia. Individuals overwinter as fourth instar larvae. There are several flights late May- Sept. 30 in the northern part of their range, multiple flights all year in the southern part of their range (Scott 1986). Some sources consider A. belli a subspecies of A. celia.
